Reis seemed even more excited then usual (which is a pretty significant level) as he announced in between teaching classes at Jenkintown’s BJJUnited that he was heading back to Bellator for another season. He cited a need to improve on his 2-1 performance, in 2008 season, where he took his first loss from an upstart but dominate Joe Soto who eventually went on to win the 145 pound class and the $175K purse.
Reis looks sincere in his desire to ratchet up the intensity and has a new training partner to that effect. Last Summer, on a trip home to Brazil, Reis married his girlfreind Paula. She is stunningly beautiful which is why I can get away with saying that she is a beast-straight out- on the mat. In her second tournament- January’s OTM BJJ event at the Valley Forge Expo Center- she dominated, winning in both Gi and No-Gi in the under-125 pound division as well as in the open-weight division. Six fights- five submissions, one win on points.

Look for a focused Reis to show up in April and wait to see what’s to come from his phenom wife.
The Bellator deal will push back Reis’ Japanese debut, originally scheduled for March 7 at Segoku 12. He still plans on invading Japan, after satisfying his Bellator Commitment.
